Frequently Asked Questions

Need help using Goldminds? You're in the right place. Below are answers to our most commonly asked questions from parents and caregivers.

Getting Started

Where can I download the Goldminds app?

Goldminds is available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. You can search for “Goldminds” in your app store or visit our Downloads page for direct links. Installation is free, and you can start with a 7-day free trial.

How do I listen to a story?

Simply tap any story in your Goldminds library to begin playback. You’ll hear a gentle voice narrating the story along with relaxing background music and subtle soundscapes. All stories are designed to end softly so your child can fall asleep naturally without abrupt interruptions. You can also filter stories by length, mood, or theme to find the perfect fit for your evening.

How do I set my child's age?

Setting your child’s age helps Goldminds recommend the most age-appropriate stories for your family. Just tap the Profile icon in the app, select your child’s avatar, and use the slider or dropdown to choose their age. You can update this at any time as your child grows, and the story library will adjust to fit their developmental stage and interests.

Stories & Library

How do I generate new stories for my child?

You can create a personalized bedtime story in just a few taps. Go to the Create tab in the app, select your child’s profile as the Main Character, and then choose the type of story you’d like. We’ll generate a customized audio experience with your child as the hero of their very own nighttime adventure. These stories are designed to be imaginative, calming, and personal, perfect for bedtime or wind-down moments.

How do I add a story to a queue or playlist?

You can create a custom story playlist by long pressing on any story and selecting “Add to queue”. This adds the story to a queue, which acts like a bedtime playlist. It’s perfect if your child has a few favorite stories they like to listen to in a row, or if you want to create a routine with a set of calming adventures each night.

How do I save stories for offline listening?

To download a story for offline use, long press on the story, then tap “Download offline”. Once it’s downloaded, you’ll see a checkmark. The story is now saved to your device and can be played without Wi-Fi, cellular data, or even in airplane mode. This is great for travel, camping, or any bedtime away from home.

What's the difference between For You and Explore?

For You is your personalized home: Featured, Recently Played, Favorites, and your custom playlists, all filtered by your child’s age. Explore is for browsing, categories like Nap Time, Bedtime Stories, Sensory Stories, Little Lessons, and seasonal collections. The more you use it, the smarter For You gets. If you’re not sure where to start, just pick something that sounds fun. You really can’t go wrong.

My child doesn't seem interested. What should I do?

Every child is different, some fall in love with Goldminds right away, while others need a bit more time or the right setting. Try playing a story during the day when there’s no pressure to fall asleep, like during breakfast or on a car ride. Look for themes your child already enjoys (like unicorns, outer space, or animals), and start with those stories. Another great trick? Use the custom story creator to add your child’s name into the adventure. When they hear their name in the story, it becomes a fun and familiar experience just for them.

Story Creation

Can I choose the narrator voice?

Yes. When you create a personalized story, you’ll see a voice selection step. Pick from several narrators, each has an audio preview, and choose different voices for different moods. Some families use a soft, slow voice for bedtime and a warmer one for Little Lessons. Let your child pick; it’s one of those small moments of control that makes a big difference.

What if the app says "We can't make a story for that topic"?

We filter topics for kid-friendly content. If something gets rejected, try a different angle, same theme, different wording usually works. Dinosaurs, unicorns, space, mermaids, superheroes, and the like are all fine.

What is the pronunciation feature?

When you add a child, you can enter how their name sounds (e.g., Noelle → noh-ell, Isla → eye-lah). The narrator uses that so your child’s name is said correctly in every story. Nothing breaks the magic faster than hearing your name said wrong. You can preview it before generating and edit it anytime in their profile.

Account & Profiles

What is the parent password and why do I need it?

A 4-digit PIN that locks Settings, subscription management, and account changes. Kids can browse and listen freely; you enter it when you need to change something. Set it from Settings. If you forget it, tap “Forgot password?” in the modal, we’ll email you a reset code.

How do I add or edit a child profile?

Add: Settings → “Add child” → follow the wizard (name, age, pronunciation, avatar, interests). Edit: tap the child’s avatar in the app header or go to Settings. Each child gets their own personalized Library and Explore, switch between them with the avatar selector. Multiple kids? Each one gets their own.

Can I share my subscription with my family on Android?

Google Play allows shared access through its Family Library, but only for apps or books that were individually purchased, not subscriptions. However, if your family wants to use Goldminds across multiple devices, the easiest solution is to log in with the same email and password on each device. This will let your child listen on more than one phone or tablet using a single subscription.

Can I use Goldminds on multiple devices? Can I share with family?

Yes. Sign in with the same email and password on each device, phone, tablet, whatever. Your subscription, child profiles, and library sync across them. One account covers your whole family. On iOS, Family Sharing for subscriptions depends on your App Store setup; logging in with the same account on each device is the simplest approach and works across iOS and Android.

Is Goldminds screen-free?

Yes. Stories are audio only, narration, music, soundscapes. Start playback, lock the device, and walk away. Designed for bedtime with the lights off.
